Scott did not follow a traditional path to data engineering. At an early age, he started off as a draftsman at an engineering firm, and it wasn’t until 2009, when his company closed five days before the birth of his first child, that he realized he needed to do something different. While working for a company that cleaned sewer pipes, he was able to intern with the IT department at night while finishing college. After that, it was a slow and steady gravitation toward data. Now, Scott is passionate about showing companies how to turn their IT departments into profit centers by implementing proper data strategy.
Born in Gainesville, Florida, at UF Health Shands, it makes sense that he bleeds orange and blue. When he’s not watching Gator football or some NFL game, he’s probably playing with his four kids or hanging out with his wife, Julie. With four kiddos running around, creating adventure is never hard to do.
