A recent transplant from the land of country music and apple pie, Carl is enjoying his new life abroad. He enjoys it so much because he has a passion for history, museums and learning about different cultures. Back home, he enjoys camping (primitive style), fishing and really anything outdoors.
He never thought he would work in IT. In fact, he worked in road construction, poultry processing and warehousing before he finally graduated with a degree in actuarial science (a mix of statistics, corporate finance and mathematics) and immediately went to work in a call centre—a very IT-intensive environment. He specialized in applying statistical models to forecast future volumes and running tests used to highlight trouble areas. It was there that he realized it was not necessarily the raw mathematics that appealed to him but rather the problem solving and analytical thinking that truly made him tick.
As an analytics consultant, his areas of interest are analytics and optimization, making work processes more efficient, metrics and KPIs, and absolutely anything that fights against cognitive dissonance. He currently spends his office hours delivering training or consulting with clients.
