Jess is an American expat currently living in The Hague, Netherlands, with her husband and their giant puppy, Penelope. Although she just recently moved across the pond, Jess already feels right at home in the land of tulips, bikes, and cheese. She is an avid college football fan, often staying up late on Saturday mornings to watch her LSU Tigers play (despite the seven-hour time difference). In her free time, Jess loves to travel to small villages throughout Holland to practice her budding photography skills and attempt speaking Dutch with locals, but you can also find her watching trivia shows like Jeopardy! and her most recent obsession, the British gameshow Pointless.
Jess loves teaching people almost as much as she loves learning new skills herself. Her eight years of experience in education began in the classroom but ended inside her school district’s data warehouse where she quickly discovered that writing complex SQL queries was actually pretty fun. In addition to the knowledge she gained during her day job as a data analyst, she registered for every data course she could find during her Masters program at George Washington University in Washington, DC.
As an analytics consultant, Jess gets to merge her teaching skills and technical expertise to support clients through their data journey. Whether she is showing a client how to build custom polygons in Tableau or training herself on the newest data wrangling tools, education is still at the centre of her daily life.
Jess has been really busy, but we'll get some of that brilliant content out of them soon.
