As a former sports reporter, Russ is both a sports lover and storyteller at heart. He was at Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals when Michael Jordan hit the most famous shot in NBA history. For him, there is nothing quite like the thrill of witnessing a game-winning shot, touchdown or home run.
He gets a similar thrill when working with interesting data and considers Tableau to be one of the greatest storytelling tools invented since the pen. Russ is a firm believer in underdogs, the designated hitter, direct flights, fresh powder, the forward pass, hikes to waterfalls, upward-trending line charts, family, thunderstorms, miracles and the 1984 BYU football team.
When he’s not at work, Russ can usually be found playing sports, enjoying nature or hanging out at home with his lovely wife and two Great Danes.
