July, around the InterWorks home state of Oklahoma, is a special time. The kids are out of school, the cicadas start singing, the weather is swelteringly hot, and the barbecues and cookouts are aplenty. It’s the peak of summer, no doubt about it.
As romantic (and sweaty) as being outside for the summer is during July, we didn’t forget to grind out a number of blogs here for your perusal. I’ll list them down below, but first, I’m gonna share the song that got me through the summer heat this month. Hope you enjoy!
It Was Picturesque and Beautiful
I’m gonna say something perhaps controversial: “Model Train Town” by Petey USA strikes some of the same chords for me as a Bruce Springsteen track. Maybe it’s the line around the middle where he’s wailing about cigarettes in that same gravelly tone I always assign to a track like “Born to Run” or something, but this one elicits the same nostalgic feeling I assign to the boss. Hope you get the same vibe!
