Our Monthly Event Debriefs summarize our involvement in data and IT events that take place all over the world.
September went by in a flash with every day bringing more and more anticipation for the 2017 Tableau Conference. And now it’s upon us! However, gearing up for TC17 isn’t the only thing we were busy with. We traveled near (Oklahoma City) and far (Berlin) to spread the data-word.
Back by popular demand was Brewalyics, this time taking place in Nashville, Tennessee. Be on the look out for that recap. Plus, InterWorks’ Team Watzmann reunited in Germany for the Tableau Conference on Tour Berlin edition. We also infiltrated our local university’s career fair in the hopes of inspiring the next generation of analysts!
All that and more can be found in this month’s event debrief post. As always, don’t forget to head to our event page to see what’s happening in your area!
Tableau Takeover
Leveraging Tableau for Embedded Analytics
September 7 – Chicago, Illinois
September 12 – Minneapolis, Minnesota
September 19 – Rochester, New York
September 20 – Buffalo, New York
Our consultants toured a few northern states to bring Tableau’s embedded analytics to the masses. Attendees heard real use-cases from local companies and shared how they have achieved success by using Tableau as a platform. People were able to learn how Tableau can be used for both in-house, self-service analytics as well as embedded analytics for custom applications.
Tableau Conference on Tour 2017
September 11-13 – Berlin, Germany
Did you know there are technically four TC17 conferences? Well, sorta. Tableau takes the show on the road to three different cities around the world before heading home to the U.S. It truly is an awesome opportunity for people from different backgrounds to meet in Tokyo, London or Berlin to experience Tableau and the greater data community. Several consultants based in Europe represented InterWorks last month and helped spread the word about our expert services, Power Tools and more.

Westchester TUG
September 26 – Yonkers, New York
Tableau User Groups are one of the best ways people can actively get involved in the data community. So, if you’re not in one, you’re definitely missing out! InterWorks’ Jimmy Steinmetz gave a talk at this TUG over the tools of data prep. Tools such as Dataiku, Keboola and Alteryx were demonstrated to show how Tableau users can quickly and easily leverage their data.
Data Analytics 101
Basics in Data Analytics
September 8 – Stillwater, Oklahoma
Whether you’re a Tableau aficionado or you have no idea what Tableau is, we have a training course for your level of experience. Our recent Basics in Data Analytics session introduced data visualization to first-time Tableau users. Throughout the day, participators learned how to connect their data, explore effective visualization types, build dashboards and refine their analytic skills.
Brewalytics
September 14 – Nashville, Tennessee
We’ve been to Boston, Brooklyn and now Nashville. At Brewalytics, attendees are able to hear about the latest trends and innovations in data analytics over a round of drinks. Participants were able to map a strategy for their own data journey and learn about embedded analytics at the same time. Be on the lookout for where this event will pop up next. You don’t want to miss out!

The “Before” and “After” of Impactful Analytics Today
September 26 – Webinar
When building a data visualization, the goal is a comprehensive dashboard of your data. But this comes before a very important step – everything before the dashboard. It’s this phase in the process that InterWorks’ Michael Treadwell and Robert Rouse explored during their webinar. Data prep is an essential step in the process and there are many bottlenecks that can potentially drain an analysts time. Virtual attendees were able to gain direct insight and take away data visualization best practices.
IT Events
Modernizing Your Data Center
September 27 – OKC, Oklahoma
We teamed up with Dell EMC to help organizations learn how they can update their data centers with best-in-class Hyper-Converged Solutions. With three different options, Dell EMC has a monopoly on data organization and management. This event is sure to make an appearance on the calendar again soon!
Recruiting
OSU Business Career Fair
September 21 – Stillwater, Oklahoma
With our headquarters down the street from Oklahoma State University, we are excited to help the students there and the next generation of analysts find their dream-job in data analytics or IT. Since many of our staff are all OSU alummi, the campus has a special place in our hearts. So, we’re always happy to go back for a visit!
