It’s finally here. I’m not talking about Thanksgiving, I’m talking about the single greatest weekend of college football in the state of Oklahoma: Bedlam. The contest pits the state’s two largest universities, Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma, against each other on the gridiron for a year’s worth of bragging rights. Of course, Bedlam extends across all sporting contests between the two universities, but football is undoubtedly the biggest.
In recent years, the significance of Bedlam has increased drastically, often with Big 12 championship and national title implications on the line. This year is no exception. In fact, this may be THE biggest Bedlam yet. The #3 Sooners will travel to Stillwater on what’s looking to be a cold, icy night to take on the #11 Cowboys under the biggest spotlight of all: ESPN’s College Game Day.
Last week, the Sooners dodged a bullet against a depleted TCU team while the Cowboys suffered their first loss to an angry Baylor team. Of course, none of that matters this week, especially considering that Bedlam is a rivalry game. In fact, anyone who knows Bedlam knows that history, record, stats and pretty much anything else doesn’t matter when it comes to Bedlam. After all, Bedlam literally means “a place, scene or state of uproar and confusion.” But that doesn’t mean we won’t look at the numbers anyway:
