Power Tools for Tableau, an extension of InterWorks, officially achieved Tableau Technology Partner status last week. The Tableau Technology Partner list is comprised of organizations that create complementary products to Tableau Software. In short, these partners are recognized for their ability to enhance Tableau, making the data visualization software that much more powerful and easy to use. Given that InterWorks is already a Tableau Gold Partner, this added distinction brings a new dimension to our reputation as the go-to Tableau experts.
What Are Power Tools for Tableau?
Power Tools for Tableau are essential software tools that give users the control, speed and freedom to do more in Tableau. They cover a variety of Tableau needs ranging from content migration, a programmer SDK for workbooks and performance analysis. Though diverse, each of these tools saves precious time and effort by automating what were once difficult and time-consuming tasks. Even better, these tools are wrapped up in the form of well-designed, user-friendly applications. They’re a Tableau power user’s dream come true!
It All Started with Some Knowledge and a Free Tool
A few years ago, the Tableau landscape was a little different. Even then, Tableau had their community of rabid fans, but the number of dedicated Tableau partners was only a fraction of what it is today. Of those dedicated partners, InterWorks was (and still is) one of the most prominent.
As a Tableau services partner, we saw how users were using Tableau in the trenches. This gave us unique insight into what users really needed to maximize Tableau’s effectiveness. After manually optimizing Tableau performance for so many clients, we thought, “Why not automate this whole process by creating a free tool that does it for us?” And so, the Tableau Performance Analyzer was born.
The Tableau Performance Analyzer (now part of Workbook Tools) was the first tool of its kind in the Tableau community, and it has since helped thousands of users improve performance. More importantly, it acted as springboard for what would soon be a much larger set of tools.
After seeing how useful the Tableau Performance Analyzer was to users, we started dreaming up new ways to make Tableau better. Leaning on our combined Tableau and development experience, the idea for Power Tools soon arose. We’ve been running full steam ahead ever since. Now, our family of tools is incredibly varied and helps users with far more than just performance analysis. Take a look at some of the tools for yourself:
- Workbook Tools
- Workbook SDK
- Enterprise Deployment Tool
- Portals
- Drawing Tool
- Color Tool
- Remote for Tableau
What Does It All Mean?
For those of you who know InterWorks, you know we’ve been setting the standard for Tableau consulting and training services for years. We were Tableau’s first Gold Partner, we employ one of the most capable teams of Tableau-focused consultants in the world, and we’ve helped countless organizations gain added value from Tableau, including the likes of Facebook, Nike, Cisco, the University of Oxford and Rosetta Stone.
We’re immensely proud of these achievements, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to hang our hats on them and call it a day. On the contrary, InterWorks is gearing up to become an even bigger proponent of Tableau throughout the data community. The emergence and recognition of Power Tools as a Tableau Technology Partner is a big step in that direction.
The creation of Power Tools shows the world that InterWorks is far more than your typical Tableau services partner in that we’re actively improving upon the Tableau experience. It also reinforces something we’ve been saying all along – nobody knows Tableau like we do.
