If you’ve been following the InterWorks blog over the last year, you’ve likely noticed a huge uptick in Sigma content. Sigma is rapidly becoming one of the most exciting platforms in the data and analytics space, allowing users to built powerful AI apps on live warehouse data. And yes, that includes some really cool data visualization capabilities. It’s certainly caught the attention of our consultants, who simply can’t stop building AI and data apps with it.
Adding to that excitement is the fact that Sigma’s annual user conference, Workflow, kicks off this week on March 5 in San Francisco. It probably doesn’t surprise you that InterWorks is a proud Silver Sponsor of the conference. We’ll have several team members there ready to connect with the Sigma community and learn about everything that’s coming our way for 2026.
Whether you’re attending Workflow or you want the upshot on why it’s a big deal, we thought it useful to share some thoughts from InterWorkers who will be there this week. Shoutout to Mark Felts, Wesley Cannatti and James Wright.
Q: What excites you about Sigma right now?
Mark: Sigma is at a compelling inflection point in the market. Going from dashboards to AI-powered data apps is happening quickly and partnering with Sigma on this is exciting. We are at a point now where we can build governed, interactive workflows directly on top of a cloud data warehouse without jumping between tools.
Wesley: It’s exciting to see how Sigma serves business and data users by providing accessible and unified cloud data sources, while also changing the game from descriptive dashboards to actionable workflows. It’s also crazy how quickly Sigma is pumping out new features weekly that seek to improve current offerings and change the game entirely.
Q: What do you enjoy about the Sigma/InterWorks partnership?
Mark: InterWorks is good at helping companies create high-impact outcomes with data, and Sigma is built for that. Partnering with Sigma gives us the opportunity to co-create solutions for our clients in a fast-paced market. InterWorks technical depth added to Sigma’s platform innovation means we can explore complex data environments and actually deliver transformation, not just talk about it.
Wesley: I enjoy working with fast-paced partners that really take our product feedback to heart and allow their partners to speak into their product roadmap and where the platform is headed.
Q: What’s your plan for Workflow? What are you looking forward to?
Mark: My plan is to learn and connect. I would like to have as many meaningful conversations as possible. Meet clients, prospects, Sigma team members and those who will help to build our AI future. I want to attend a session or two on AI apps and the Sigma Agent capabilities — to sharpen how I’m positioning these solutions with prospective clients. I’m looking forward to meeting customers who are already building in Sigma at scale and understanding what’s driving their decisions.
Wesley: I’m excited to learn what others are building and spark new things for myself! As an advanced technical contributor, I love finding creative ways others find workarounds and stretch the boundaries of what’s possible in a tool. I’m also excited to chat with others about their problems, the product roadmap and how others are using the existing tool.
Q: Why should people be paying attention to Sigma?
Mark: Because the analytics market is being redefined right now, and Sigma is one of the few platforms redefining it. I believe that for companies who are serious about operationalizing their data — not just visualizing it — Sigma should be discussed.
Wesley: Sigma isn’t just a business intelligence competitor. They’re changing the game entirely of how people interact with data with their apps. The spreadsheet-native interface lowers the barrier for business users enormously, but it doesn’t sacrifice depth for data teams. On top of that, it seems they’re moving toward being “a workflow tool with advanced BI capabilities” rather than “a BI competitor with data app capabilities.” This paradigm shift is neat, and it’s exciting to see how it plays out over the coming years as AI disrupts the current BI landscape.
Q: Thoughts on how Workflow attendees can connect with InterWorks?
Mark: Absolutely. Come find us at the InterWorks booth or text me at (469) 833-7588 and we can meet. We love talking data strategy. Beyond the conference, the best way to connect is through our website or LinkedIn. If they are evaluating their data stack, exploring Sigma or just trying to figure out where to start on their data journey, InterWorks is a great first call. We’ve helped organizations of all sizes find clarity and build momentum with their data — and that’s exactly the kind of work that gets us excited every day.
Wesley: Come find us at the conference at our booth or out in the wild! We would love to chat about your personal context. Whether it’s evaluating BI tools, implementing Sigma, technical advice or something else, InterWorks is a great resource. Our team works with Sigma all day every day across multiple industries, so there’s a good chance we’ve seen whatever you’re dealing with.
Some Closing Thoughts on Sigma
Last but certainly not least, here’s what James Wright had to say in summary of our growing relationship with Sigma and the promise they bring to the BI landscape:
James: The more I learn about Sigma and about the product, the more I like. I like the people, the culture and the way they do business. I’m excited that what they’re doing in the BI space is very much in alignment with what we’ve been doing for years. Their apps combine all the principles of data governance we espouse, with the ability to do custom analytics work and deliver an end-user experience that would have taken a combination of more technologies in a previous generation. They seem to have solved the technological limitations of BI 2.0 and have an approach compatible with the personnel/human strategy we believe in. Adding to that, their roadmap is value-driven and I believe actually aligns to the best interests of our shared clients.
Again, if you’re at Workflow this week, we’d love to chat with you about how you’re using Sigma. And no worries if you can’t make it this year or you’re new to Sigma entirely! We can have the same conversations virtually today, just drop us a line.
