Above: Me Presenting to the Brewalytics Boston crowd.
Last week, InterWorks and Tableau joined forces to host an analytics and happy hour event in Boston, MA, aptly named Brewalytics Boston. We hosted the event at Boston Beer Works in Downtown Boston and had an excellent time! The purpose of the event was to share how embedded analytics with Tableau can positively impact adoption within organizations.
Speaking from Experience
A big reason why InterWorks co-hosted the event (aside from getting to share some food, drinks and good company) was because we have extensive experience applying embedded analytics with our clients. At InterWorks, we call this practice “Portals for Tableau.” During the event, we talked about how we’ve all built that perfect report, only to publish it, sit and wait, and finally realize that no one is finding our masterpiece! All that work and effort is worthless, unless someone uses your report!
By utilizing the power of Tableau, in an embedded setting, we can drive traffic to our data visualizations and help ensure we never build a report that our users don’t engage with! We talked about how embedded analytics can help lower the barrier of entry for our users, allowing them to access our masterpieces in a setting that they are familiar with and use every day.
To illustrate further, we talked through the story of a fake retail company, The Notch, and their Data Journey. Along the way, we discussed how embedded analytics help tie all the pieces of the puzzle together into one solid unified piece. We wrapped up talking about some further ideas for embedded systems: write-back/commenting, PowerPoint export, integration with outside processes, data science applications, etc. You can check out the full slides from our talk below:
Thanks for Coming Out!
