The dreaded, “No Service” message. You have no voice, no data, no communication at all with the outside world!!!!
Ok, so maybe it’s no all that bad, but what do you do when you get this message, you need to make a call, and you have no service. Well, if the service in your area is totally out, then your best bets are to find a payphone (good luck), or find someone with a phone through another provider, and make a call from their phone.
If, on the other hand, the current “top tier” service package is just down (for my IPhone 3GS, thats 3G, for 4G phones it would be 4G, etc.), then you may be able to fall back on one of the old (read: more reliable) networks, and get your call out. This small example is for an IPhone 3GS, but will work with most IPhone types, and it’s replicatable for most other brands of phones (but the menus may be a bit different)
Open your “Settings” of your Iphone and click “General” :
Open the “Network” control panel:
Disable the “Enable 3G” option so it looks like this:
And HOPEFULLY, you’ll get some bars, and a little icon that shows a capital “E”. Keep in mind, this will not be as “peppy” as 3G, but you’d be surprised how reliable the calls are. 🙂
Good luck, and happy texting
