Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) 11.X default credentials reset

by Jin Kim
//

If you ever need to reset the SEPM default credentials, you can use the resetpass.bat to reset the password for the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager admin account.  Comes in very handy if someone changes the password and unintentionally locks themselves out.

Note:  If you change the admin account name to something other than admin and then subsequently run resetpass.bat, it changes the account name back to admin.

To reset the administrator password

  • Open Windows Explorer on the computer that runs Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager.
  • Locate the :Program FilesSymantecSymantec Endpoint Protection ManagerTools folder.
  • Double-click the resetpass.bat executable file.
  • The password is reset to admin.
  • Change the password immediately.

The Symantec supplied documentation can be found here: C:Program FilesSymantecSymantec Endpoint Protection ManagerTools as reset_password.html or reset_password.pdf.
