Database Popularity via Social Media

A few years ago, I decided to try to count all of the database products that were available. After spending several hours on a Friday evening trying to count all of them, I gave up at around 2 a.m., having counted 200. I classified them in my own mind as:

  1. Relational databases
  2. Non-relational databases
  3. Grid-cache systems

A German IT consultancy called solid IT has been putting out it’s own popularity ranking of database products since October 2012. You may or may not agree with their methodology, but their website is great resource for those of you who want to scan the database landscape. I couldn’t resist building a dashboard in Tableau.

NOTE: This dashboard was created and published in Tableau 9.0.

The dashboard includes links to solid IT’s methodology page. Are there any products missing that you think should be added to the list?
