Cloropleth Maps in Tableau

//

This morning I came upon an RSS feed through Joe Mako and Clearly and Simply which is a brilliant work around to the lack of truly flexible choropleth map capability in Tableau.  While Tableau does do some choropleth mapping of US Census data at the State, County, Zipcode and Area Code levels, what if your data needs are more granular than that.  Or, perhaps your interested in some other dimensional data that you want to display with greater granularity using a Tableau visualization.

The work around was created by a computer science student at the University of Hagen named Giedre who posts on a blog called add knowledge.  She is based in Vladislav

There are sample Tableau workbooks posted on Clearly and Simply.

Really clever work.
