Two weeks ago, KeyBanc Capital Markets and the Mosaic network held their 15th Annual Emerging Technology Summit in San Francisco, California. This event connects executives from pre-IPO and public companies in the tech sector with leading private equity and public market investors. The goal is to spotlight companies and educate investors on current market conditions and the opportunities therein. Where does InterWorks fit into this equation? We had the unique privilege of sharing the solutions integrator perspective. This is an honor we’ve had for several consecutive years, and the impact is immense.
InterWorks’ Role as a Trusted Solutions Integrator
For over two decades, InterWorks has directly impacted the way businesses utilize technology. Our job is understanding which trends and technologies can deliver real value to our customers, then assisting those customers in getting the most out of that investment. Discerning which technologies have staying power and which are simply flavors of the week is no easy task, especially in today’s exciting yet dizzying start-up climate, but we’d like to think we’ve learned a thing or two in our time. Our status as top partners for exciting technology firms like Tableau Software, Snowflake Computing, Matillion and Dell EMC positions us well in that regard.
As it pertains directly to the Emerging Technology Summit, I had the opportunity to speak in a series of expert interviews as well as a keynote panel discussion. Each of these events featured slightly different topics of discussion, but almost all of them circled back to how cloud-based solutions are supplanting legacy solutions. Specifically, solutions like Snowflake and Matillion are making serious inroads vs. their legacy competitors. I talked about this at length alongside Matillion CEO Matthew Scullion and Snowflake Director of Technical Alliances Tarek Dweik in our panel discussion moderated by KeyBanc Content Strategy Lead Kate Lyons.

My role as representative of InterWorks is to share the on-the-ground impact these new technologies have. We deal with all manner of data environments day in and day out and have a keen sense of what works for clients and what doesn’t. In our experience, solutions like Snowflake and Matillion are offering speed and scalability at a fraction of the cost. This is a massive net positive for clients. This is also crucial for investors because that type of information influences literally billions of investment dollars, which is a cool and sobering thing to be part of. Our hope is that by guiding investors to the right technologies, we can continue to build on the already massive benefits these exciting solutions provide.
The Big Takeaway
InterWorks has been part of the Emerging Technology Summit for a few years now. When I started attending three years ago, I’m sure I sounded like the one crazy guy rambling about how upstart cloud providers will be the future of database technology. This year, the vibe is entirely different. With a few years of experience under their belts, continuous funding and exploding customer bases, these cloud technologies have proven they are no longer the potential future – they are the here and now. Case in point, the questions I fielded at this event were no longer about IF these technologies would carve out serious market share but rather WHICH of them were best positioned to become industry leaders. Again, players like Snowflake and Matillion come to mind as vendors who have an excellent shot. That’s exciting for us as partners, but it’s even more exciting for our clients because with more investment backing, they’ll be able to deliver even better solutions.
