This year, InterWorks marked International Women’s Day by doing something simple but meaningful, bringing our women together to celebrate.

Across Melbourne, Sydney and Perth, the women from each state attended a high tea, and while we were in different cities, the spirit of the day felt very much shared.
In Melbourne, Cathy, Carol and I headed to The Tea Rooms 1892, tucked inside the city’s famous Block Arcade. Opening in 1892, it’s home to the oldest tea rooms in Australia, a fitting setting for a day about honoring history:

In Sydney, Angela, Tinju and Azu celebrated at the Queen Victoria Building, another beautifully historic venue:

And in Perth, Rachelle and Priyanka enjoyed high tea at the C Restaurant, a high-rise in the Perth CBD with sweeping views over the city:

We all wore a touch of purple, the theme color for IWD 2026, which was a lovely way to feel connected across the distance.
It was a fun outing, and one we’ll remember.
But beyond the beautiful venues and the scones, the day meant something more. International Women’s Day is a chance to celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of women throughout time, and to reflect on how pivotal those achievements have been. Reading about them is genuinely inspiring. It’s a reminder to keep growing, to speak up and to do the things that matter to us. It’s also a day that shines a light on how much work still remains when it comes to equality, and why that work matters.
For us, the day was also an opportunity to get to know each other better. Spending that time together, outside of the day-to-day, helps build the kinds of relationships that make a workplace feel like a good place to be. We’re grateful to InterWorks for giving us the space to celebrate, and for acknowledging that we have a valued contribution to make. That means a lot. It makes us proud to represent the company, and it makes us want to show up and do a great job.
Here’s to the women of InterWorks, and to many more high teas to come.
