Even though February is the shortest month of the year, it was jam packed for our events team. From Tableau Agency events to the DRIVE/ conference in Seattle, we made our way through a chilly February and are getting closer and closer to spring as we get into March. But before we talk about our fun upcoming events this month, let’s review.
DRIVE/ Conference
The DRIVE/ Conference is for professionals who are determined to be subject matter experts in the fields of data, reporting, information, analytics, modeling, visualization and beyond. We had the honor and privilege to send Experience Consultant David Duncan so he could present on “Designing for Data,” informing people of how to make a great looking dashboard and introducing them to the “User Interface Checklist.”

“I think there’s a lot of interest surrounding design and data because the two have been so distant from each other. It was inspiring to have a packed room of 50 people and to field several questions after. If in 10 years from now people remember InterWorks as the ones that first taught them how to make their charts more useful and look cleaner, I count that as a success.”

OKC and Tulsa Lunch and Learn Series
With the help of a little ice storm in Oklahoma, the OKC and Tulsa Lunch and Learn Series over Infrastructure was rescheduled to a week later than we originally planned. Nonetheless, we had a fabulous event with 90 plus attendees at both events.
“I was encouraged by the tremendous turnout of our clients. It’s obvious that our clients have grown to trust us as we help them navigate the challenges of the data center and business intelligence.”
David Burch, Account Executive, InterWorks
Account Executive Russell Parker delivered an outstanding presentation regarding Infrastructure and how we can partner with them in navigating today’s fast pace modern business landscape. Not only did we have a chance to help them address challenges and deliver a presentation, fellow Account Executives Andrew Wooten and Matt Clark delivered an intro giving an inside look of what InterWorks is really about.
“It’s a great opportunity to have a captive audience hear our story. From our perspective, we get to tell our story and likely have some time to connect before or after the event.”

NW ARK and OKC Tableau Event
We had two events in Northwest Arkansas and Oklahoma City, featuring Tableau Workshops with our Regional Solutions Lead, Tom McCullough. Tom delivered a hands-on approach for business and IT professionals alike who have wanted to dive into Tableau but have never had the chance. There were 40 plus attendees who were at this workshop, and they weren’t the only ones to find value.

“It was great to see our partnership with Tableau in action. In Arkansas, they led the workshop and did a great job. Tom also did an excellent job in Oklahoma, and his ability to relate his knowledge of Tableau kept the workshop on the right path. With such a large group, it would have been easy to lose a lot of people along the way, and I saw nearly 100% participation throughout both workshops.”

On a slightly different note, our European events team has been equally busy this February with D+I+Y events and Data Discovery Days in the U.K., Austria and Switzerland.
D+I+Y
2017 seems like a lifetime ago and we are super excited by all of the projects that Tableau and its partners are launching in 2018. With that in mind, our latest D+I+Y offering took place in Tableau’s offices in the Blue Fin building, the heart of BI. We had partners from Snowflake and Tableau work with Analytics Consultant Sian Davies, making sure that the event was as relevant and successful as possible.
Data Discovery Days – Vienna and Zurich
Our trainers guided attendees through the main functionality of the software and taught them how to use Tableau to build their own dashboards. The benefit to these Data Discovery Days is having the opportunity to utilize a free trial license of Tableau back in the office. In addition to the free trial, after they attend, they can apply what they’ve learned by accessing their own data.

Coming Up in March
The month will be over before we know it, and you’ll be hearing about more events as March comes to a close, so stay tuned! We’ve got two more lunch and learn events within our OKC and Tulsa event series, a re-cap of an IT Transformation presentation in Lawton, Oklahoma, and some fun events in Europe to highlight!
