Creating a line return in WYSIWYG editors

by Sean Corrales
//

When using WYSIWYG editors, one of the most common questions I receive from users is “How do I create a line return?”

Most users are used to text editors like word where pressing return once will create a line return. However, when using a WYSIWYG like TinyMCE or FCKEditor (now CKeditor), hitting return creates a double space.

So here’s the secret keyboard shortcut for single line returns:  Shift + Enter.

This should work in most, if not all, WYSIWYG editors.
