Day 1 has had its share of exciting announcements. Without a doubt, “cloud” was the key focus, and VMware’s partnership with AWS is taking things to the next level.
Here are a few key highlights:
- Today’s opening session included the announcement of Amazon Relational Database (RDS) on VMware. The same solution that allows you to set up, operate and scale a relational database in the cloud can now be done on-prem. Check out VMware’s press release for more info.
- Just as we expected, VMware on AWS has revamped the pricing model for a lower cost of entry, reducing the price by 50%. We’ve also heard rumors there may be a new two-node cluster offering announced soon.
- VMware’s CEO boldly stated that he doesn’t believe customers should buy physical hardware for disaster recovery ever again. The roadmap is clear, and VMware on AWS is focused on providing reliable, scalable and cost-effective disaster recovery solutions for customers of nearly all sizes.
More to come throughout the week. Make sure you get registered for our upcoming events to hear more about the VMware Hybrid Cloud offerings:
