Last Friday, the Oklahoma Department of Labor honored InterWorks with the Entrepreneurial Excellence in Oklahoma Award. Mark Costello, the Oklahoma Department of Labor Commissioner, swung by our home office in Stillwater, Oklahoma, to congratulate us in person. With him came Stillwater Mayor John Bartley, state Sen. Jim Halligan and several staff from the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce.

As if the award itself wasn’t enough, the City of Stillwater also decided to name Feb. 6 as “InterWorks Day” in honor of the achievement.

About the Award

This new award is the first of its kind from the Oklahoma Department of Labor and comes at the heels of a renewed commitment to cooperation between them and Oklahoma businesses. The award recognizes outstanding Oklahoma-based businesses for their entrepreneurial contributions to the state, primarily through the creation of new jobs. Honorees were also noted for their diversity and ability to make Oklahoma attractive to entrepreneurs outside of the state.

“This award echoes what InterWorks’ identity has been from day one,” said InterWorks CEO Behfar Jahanshahi. “By doing what we love and doing it well, we’ve been able to grow both InterWorks and Oklahoma’s technology industry on the whole.”

2014 was a landmark year for InterWorks as we lined our shelves with more honors and awards than any year previous. We created dozens of new jobs in Oklahoma and across the country, our influence continued to spread globally and we helped more people than ever before. In short, it was a fantastic year. Winning this award right off the bat in 2015 is a great to start to what looks to be another record-breaking year in the making.
