UK Budget Cuts

//

Following the budget cuts announced yesterday by George Osbourne I, like I’m sure many of you, have been trying to get to grips with what these cuts will mean for the country going forward. Clicking through some of the reaction on the BBC new website I found a neat visualisation comparing current departmental expenditure with the expected expenditure in 2015 in line with the new cuts.

I really liked the interactivity of this viz and decided to take this data and put my own spin on it by producing the following for Tableau public:

The top viz shows the government departments ranked by their % budget cut or rise. The bottom left viz shows the total expenditure this year vs the projected 2015 figures. By clicking on a department in the top viz the year vs year expenditure graph is filtered to departmental specific financials and a description of the announced cuts is displayed.
