InterWorks is delighted to be sponsoring the inaugural Data + Women in Zurich, with the aim to support and empower women in data and create an inclusive community for discussion and mutual learning.
AGENDA
5:30 pm Welcome
6:00 pm Dr. Sara Irina Fabrikant
From artificially intelligent (AI) navigation assistance towards intelligent augmentation (IA) of humans’ spatial abilities
We daily make hundreds of time-critical and societally relevant spatial decisions on the go, often relying on location-aware, mobile geographic information displays (mGIDs). How should the mGIDs of the future look like, to avoid what others have coined “the technological infantilizing of society”, that is, the reduction of our innate spatial abilities and skills to still make wise navigation decisions without having to rely on smart technological assistance?Sara will highlight ongoing empirical research on human and context adaptive mGIDs applied in the lab and in the wild, capitalizing on ambulatory human behaviour sensing methods (i.e., eye tracking, and EEG measurements). Based on collected empirical evidence and supported by cognition and vision theories we are guiding the process of designing future neuro-, task-, and context-adaptive geographic information displays to support spatial learning, and thus wise navigation decisions of the smart urban citizens.
