CHALLENGE:

Des Moines Public Schools is a public school system in Des Moines, Iowa. DMPS needed assistance in aggregating, organizing and visualizing standardized test results across various schools, grades, ages and other demographic groups for presentation to their leadership team. With mountains of demographic and test data being pulled from multiple locations, it was difficult to compile a cohesive report in a timely manner.

SOLUTION:

InterWorks jumped in aggregated all their test data into a database and combined those results with demographic data captured by the State of Iowa as well as data collected internally from schools within their own district. After implementing the new database solution and data integration process, InterWorks began pulling their data into Tableau for analysis. InterWorks designed a series of dynamic dashboards that allowed DMPS to create an easy-to-interpret overview of the state of their student body.

RESULTS:

In addition to a concise overview, the dashboards created by InterWorks endowed DMPS with a variety of filtering, grouping and sorting options. This gave them the ability to view different segments of student data from every angle. Now that DMPS is well equipped with such interactive dashboards, reporting has never been easier. Instead of pouring hours and days into creating one report, they can now analyze data on several different levels with only a few clicks.
