CHALLENGE:

The OSU Student Union recently underwent renovations, making it the largest Student Union facility in the world. It serves as a hub for campus life, serving over 22,000 students, in addition to OSU faculty and staff. Housing nearly 20 unique departments including bookstores, restaurants, administrative services, as well as a multitude of student organizations, the sheer size and volume of information being managed on the Student Union’s website was a daunting task at best. In order to compliment a state-of-the-art facility, the website necessitated an aesthetic redesign as well as an easy to manage content system.

SOLUTION:

Due to the need for extensive updates to its content on a regular basis, InterWorks proposed the use of Drupal for its outstanding customizable add-on modules. These modules were vital to the clean organization of the websites infrastructure, as well as the ease of use among the multitude of different user groups. The Drupal platform allowed for the creation of a clean, functional, and easily navigable website.

RESULTS:

Working extensively with Student Union Administration and Student Union IT, InterWorks proposed several customized solutions, including a comprehensive content strategy plan for the Student Union site. Through Drupal, InterWorks empowered each department within the site by giving them total ownership of their content. The easy to use interface and content management system of the Student Union site has resulted in unprecedented compliance between the departments, Student Union IT, and Student Union Marketing.
