CHALLENGE:

Center City District approached InterWorks in the spring of 2009 to architect a data warehouse solution that would enable them to report on and store information about the city’s retail businesses.

SOLUTION:

InterWorks reviewed retail survey data captured by CCD in a series of spreadsheets and created a dimensional schema to facilitate building Tableau visualizations. The dimensional schema was implemented as a SQL Server 2008 database. Extraction, transformation and loading of the data were performed with SQL Server Integration Services. InterWorks provided training and assistance on building visualizations with Tableau.

RESULTS:

InterWorks provided the data warehouse for the Center City District retail reporting initiative on time and under budget. CCD’s retail reporting is highly visible within the City of Philadelphia and has been very well received.
